St. Stephen Middle School

Project Overview:

SAAarchitects provided Design-Build architectural services for the construction of a new, 7,500 SF, single-story school building. The Middle School building is 75’ x 100’ with four (4) large classrooms, two (2) smaller classrooms, mens and womens restrooms, one (1) teacher / staff work room and a corridor with lockers. The building incorporates wood framed construction with brick veneer on the exterior matching that of surrounding buildings on site. Multiple brick coursing details and a custom precast medallion featuring the school’s logo were integrated to increase visual appeal.

Large, operable windows in all of the classrooms permit lots of natural daylighting and ventilation. An open air canopy connects the main school and new middle school for students and staff to circulate between the two buildings in inclement weather. A maker’s space is also provided in one of the larger classrooms for more hands on experiential learning opportunities.
