Project Overview:

Winner of the 2010 Historic Preservation Award given by Historic York, Inc.

SAA designed this adaptive reuse of a historic Coca-Cola bottling works for a mixed use, self storage facility. Project included removal of metal siding covering historic brick building and restoration of ornamental cast stone removed in previous renovations. New building redesign opened views, into and through building from adjacent street, showcasing activity on the interiors and inviting the public into the previously monolithic facility. This project was awarded Historic York Inc’s Preservation Award for the restoration of the former Coca-Cola bottling works building. The entire building was upgraded to meet modern building and life safety codes and ADA accessibility standards. All HVAC, fire protection, lighting, plumbing and electrical systems were replaced with energy efficient systems. Green and Sustainable features were integrated to the extent possible. The facility now provides administrative offices, commercial operations, and climate controlled self storage units.

The new building showcases the activity on the interior and invites the public into the previously monolithic facility.
